A Generational Guide to Personal Finance

What Is the Difference Between Financial Freedom and Financial Independence

“Prosperity isn’t a mystery; it’s the result of learning and consistently applying God’s proven financial principles.”

I was fortunate to have parents who understood the principles you are about to learn in the Money Skills Program. I remember from a young age my father provided a simple plan that taught us three simple things about money and life… 1) if you spin less than you earn you will always have a surplus... 2) make savings and investing a priority before spending… and 3) the importance of avoiding debt so that you have more to give. He called this the three jar method where we divided our monthly allowance into 3 jars -- ones for savings one for spending in one for giving --See The Beginner's Guide to Personal Finance.

As a result of these principle, my husband and I are in our early 40s, we have started several businesses of our own, we own our home free and clear, we have investments in other real estate beside our home, we own several nice cars, we pay off our credit cards at the end of every month and we have set aside a comfortable amount of money in our long term surplus savings for early retirement. But just as importantly we have enough money set aside to do the things we enjoy in life -- eating out, traveling and being a blessing to our family and friends.

Financial independence means having enough assets or investments to cover your living expenses without relying on a job or others. Financial freedom expands on this concept where you have sufficient enough financial reserves to live as you wish, without being constrained by financial worries.

The purpose of The Money Skills Financial Freedom Program is to give you a simple easy to follow plan to organize your life and money that will allow you to take control of your financial future. It answers the question what is it that 30% of the population know that 70% don't – what are the common mistakes that most young people make that mess up their lives, their finances and what practical steps you can take to avoid them.
